  19. NEW PLACES TO BUY VEGAN PIZZA IN MARYLAND AREA

&PIZZA IN THE GREATER WASHINGTON, DC/MARYLAND/VA AREA CLEARLY MARKS VEGAN
AND VEGETARIAN ITEMS ON THEIR MENU
We live in Springfield, VA. The Springfield Town Center has reopened
recently
and has a new place called &Pizza. It works on the order of Chipotle. You
go through a line and pick out any and everything you want on your pizza.
It's the same price no matter how many items. The menu clearly labels every
vegan item on the menu (Daiya cheese included). Here's there website where
you can view the menu: [ http://andpizza.com/ ]. The staff at our
location was
very knowledgeable about the vegetarian and vegan items.

 Sally & Larry Miller

VERDE PIZZA IN THE CANTON NEIGHBORHOOD OF BALTIMORE OFERS SEVERAL VEGAN
PIZZAS
Verde Pizza offers a range of authentic Italian pizzas, calzones, pasta,
and
salads. With a whole section of their menu dedicated to vegan pizza, Verde
caters to all crowds. Vegan Cipolla is a Neapolitan style pizza topped with
caramelized onions, zucchini, roasted red peppers, basil, and extra virgin
olive oil. They also offer gluten free pizza for those with allergies! If
you aren’t in the mood for pizza, they have plenty of salad options that
could easily be made vegan like the roasted beet salad with arugula and
balsamic
vingear, hold the cheese. For more information on their menu see:

A new vegan bar, Root, will be opening on West Walnut Street in April. It
will serve mainly bar food standards, such as pierogies and nachos. When
prompted
about the menu, the owner stated: "Your favorite foods twisted into a vegan
dining experience" and even confirmed that all drinks will be vegan as
well--including
drinks that are made not using isinglass.

  1. GET READY FOR A VEGAN PASSOVER

Traditionally there are many food restrictions during the eight days of
Passover.
If you’re vegan, preparing a wide variety of foods during Passover can be
overwhelming at times. Thankfully, The Vegetarian Resource Group offers two
vegan Passover recipe books, Vegan Passover Recipes and No Cholesterol
Passover
Recipes. See a sample recipe below!

You can purchase these titles from The Vegetarian Resource group at:

Cream of Asparagus or Broccoli Soup (from Vegan Passover Recipes)
(Serves 4)

People will be amazed and delighted with this non-dairy, lowfat “cream”
soup.

2 cups frozen (thawed) or fresh asparagus spears or broccoli florets
 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
 1 cup vegetable stock
1 cup peeled and boiled white potatoes, mashed
 1/2 teaspoon white pepper

Microwave asparagus or broccoli and onions for 3 minutes or steam for 8
minutes,
until very soft. Retain any liquid (about 1/4 cup). In a blender, combine
cooked vegetables, potatoes, and pepper. Process until pureed. Place in a
small medium pot and allow soup to simmer covered for 5 minutes. Serve hot,
garnished with additional chopped steamed asparagus or broccoli.
