JOIN EARTHSAVE FOR A VEGAN POTLUCK
Held on the last Saturday every month at Towson Presbyterian Church, 400 W
Chesapeake Ave. Towson, MD 21204, EarthSave presents a vegan potluck and
presentation.
They eat first, make announcements, vote and present awards for their
favorite
dishes, and then have a presentation. This month, on October 18, from
6-8 PM,
Earthsave will present the film, "Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30
Days."
This documentary tells the stories of six Americans with diabetes who
switch
to a physician supervised diet consisting entirely of vegan, organic,
uncooked
food in order to reverse disease without medication. The film shows the
powerful
healing effects of smart food choices. The clinical study and film are
powerful
and revealing.
Dinner guests may choose to either bring a dish without animal products (to
serve 8) plus a $5 donation, pay $15 to enjoy dinner and a presentation; or
pay $5 for presentation only. Let us know in advance, if possible, if you
plan to pay for dinner rather than bring a dish. RSVP by calling
410-252-3043,
or emailing Baltimore@Earthsave.org.

- VEGETARIAN DINING IN BALTIMORE
By Dina Gharib
SWEET 27 Cafe and Bakery
Vegetarians, Vegans, and omnivores can rejoice! There is a restaurant that
can satisfy all dietary needs, as well as multiple cuisine cravings in the
Charles Village/Remington area of Baltimore. While the bright yellow and
blue
painted walls may resemble child's play, the taste sensation is nothing to
take lightly. Sweet 27's Gluten Free menu consists of a fusion of South
Asian and Caribbean flavors integrated with childhood classics. Popular
vegan
dishes consist of their Veggie Tacos with rice, black beans, masala
chickpeas,
avocado, and salsa or the Pesto Vegetable Pizza made with soy cheese (upon
request), spinach, green pepper, onion, tomato, and mushroom. Pair with a
side of garlicky kale for an outburst of flavors. If that isn't enough to
get you excited, Sweet 27 also offers vegan cupcakes. These cupcakes
consist
of decadent frostings and rich flavored cake. We recommend the traditional
vanilla cupcake with a strawberry frosting for a fruity twist to a
childhood
classic.
For more information visit: www.sweet27.com
The Bun Shop
This Mount Vernon coffee shop/bakery is perfect for everyone from the
on-the-go
vegan, to the student who needs a quiet place to study. If the free Wi-Fi
isn't enough to lure you in, The Bun Shop offers a select menu for every
palette.
All drinks are made to order and can be altered to your dietary needs.
Soymilk
and almond milk are also available at no up charge. Popular drinks consist
of the traditional Hazelnut latte with almond milk, to the more complex
Dark
Chocolate Vietnamese coffee. As for the pastries, you can't go wrong with
the Vegan Curry Puff, filled with potatoes, peas, and carrots in a rich
curry
sauce and wrapped in vegan puff pastry. Regardless of what you order, you
are sure to be a happy customer.

7. VEGETARIAN DINING IN BALTIMORE
We recommend the traditional
vanilla cupcake with a strawberry frosting for a fruity twist to a
childhood
classic.
