  1. VEGETARIAN VIDEO SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

Prerana is a winner of The Vegetarian Resource Group Video Contest. Prerana
stated: I am an 11 year old girl. I am a vegetarian, and I am proud to be
so. I am also very passionate about it as I am against animal cruelty. I
have
made a video to promote vegetarianism and hope to spread the message to the
masses. I love all living things, and cannot bear hurting even a little
ant.
Then how can I eat a chicken, or a lamb? Even the thought of the agony and
fear they must be going through when they are butchered to be eaten makes
me very very sad. Though I admit that sometimes I get tempted when all my
friends eat meat during parties, I stand by what I believe in and am proud
to say that I have never given in to temptation.

See videos at:

You can be next year's VRG video winner! The next contest deadline is July
15, 2015. For more information on how to apply and the rules surrounding

JOIN EARTHSAVE FOR A VEGAN POTLUCK
Held on the last Saturday every month at Towson Presbyterian Church,
400 W Chesapeake Ave. Towson, MD 21204, EarthSave presents a vegan potluck
and presentation. They eat first, make announcements, vote and present
awards
for their favorite dishes, and then have a presentation. This month, on
January 31st from 6-8 PM, there will be a live presentation by Mark
Rifkin, MS, RD,
on "Slice Your Food Bill." Healthy plant-based diets don't have to be
expensive.
An average healthy person eating plant-based should be able to spend
less than
$180-$200 per month. Registered Dietitian Mark Rifkin will help us
ignore clever
marketing strategies and learn to avoid overspending; identify which
foods give
us the most for our money; understand how we can enjoy summer fruit all
year round;
pinpoint key ways to stop wasting food; and learn how to measure our
success.
RSVP and Join us!

Dinner guests may choose to either bring a dish without animal products (to
serve 8) plus a $5 donation, pay $15 to enjoy dinner and a presentation; or
pay $5 for presentation only. Let us know in advance, if possible, if you
plan to pay for dinner rather than bring a dish. RSVP by calling
410-252-3043,
or emailing Baltimore@Earthsave.org.

Monthly activities include a members plant-based potluck, promoting
Meatless
Mondays and featuring a weekly recipe, staffing tables at events for
health,

  1. VOTE FOR NOAH ADAMS, ASPIRING NATUROPATHIC PHYSICIAN, AND HELP HIM
    BECOME
THE WINNER OF AFS PROJECT CHANGE

My name is Noah Adams and I am a vegan athlete who is also an Eagle Scout
and wants to be a Naturopathic Physician when I grow up.

I just wanted to let you know that I was recently selected as a top 20
national
finalist for AFS Project Change.

Project Change is a program where students from across the country submit
their ideas for a global service project, and AFS narrows the field down to
one project, which they then fund and implement in a foreign country.

I did my submission on hosting a naturopathic medicine seminar and
informing
people about the benefits of natural and alternative medicine.
Specifically,
through using plants as a basis for good health and preventing diseases
before
they occur.

If you would be willing to go on the following link and take a glance at
all
the projects and vote for your favorite (possible mine?) that would be
greatly
appreciated!

I am extremely interested in naturopathic medicine as my career, and this
program would be a great way for me to take a head start on reaching my
goals.

Thank you for your time!

  1. PHYSICIANS COMMITTEE RANKS BALTIMORE/WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
    NUMBER ONE

Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) gains 12 percentage points
and soars from fourth to first place this year. More than 90 percent of
BWI's
restaurants serve at least one healthful plant-based option, with
restaurants
like Silver Diner going above and beyond to provide Baltimore travelers
with
nutrient-packed options. Silver Diner's flexitarian menu, based on seasonal
and local foods, features colorful vegetarian stir-fries with gluten-free
quinoa pasta, kidney bean chili, and a fall harvest salad with 10 locally
sourced fruits and vegetables. Ram's Head also changes its menu seasonally,
offering options like the spring greens and roasted pear salad, black bean
soup, seaweed salad, and the Mediterranean quinoa salad. At Pepper's
Mexican
Grill, travelers can find portobello mushroom burritos and protein-packed
rice and beans, while Zona Cocina and Chipotle allow passengers to
customize
vegetable-packed salads, tacos, and burrito bowls. With multiple salads at
DuClaw Brewing Company, small vegetable plates at Sky Azure, and a vegan
veggie
burger at Kraze Burger, Baltimore travelers have their pick of healthful
fare
from which to choose this year.

VEGETARIAN VIDEO SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS Prerana is a winner of The Vegetarian Resource Group Video Contest. Prerana stated: I am an 11 year old girl. I am a vegetarian, and I am proud to be so. I am also very passionate about it as I am against animal cruelty. I have made a video to promote vegetarianism and hope to spread the message to the masses. I love all living things, and cannot bear hurting even a little ant. Then how can I eat a chicken, or a lamb? Even the thought of the agony and fear they must be going through when they are butchered to be eaten makes me very very sad. Though I admit that sometimes I get tempted when all my friends eat meat during parties, I stand by what I believe in and am proud to say that I have never given in to temptation. See videos at: [ http://www.vrg.org/veg_videos.php#pai ] You can be next year's VRG video winner! The next contest deadline is July 15, 2015. They eat first, make announcements, vote and present awards for their favorite dishes, and then have a presentation. This month, on January 31st from 6-8 PM, there will be a live presentation by Mark Rifkin, MS, RD, on "Slice Your Food Bill." Healthy plant-based diets don't have to be expensive. An average healthy person eating plant-based should be able to spend less than $180-$200 per month. Registered Dietitian Mark Rifkin will help us ignore clever marketing strategies and learn to avoid overspending; identify which foods give us the most for our money; understand how we can enjoy summer fruit all year round; pinpoint key ways to stop wasting food; and learn how to measure our success. RSVP and Join us! Dinner guests may choose to either bring a dish without animal products (to serve 8) plus a $5 donation, pay $15 to enjoy dinner and a presentation; or pay $5 for presentation only. Let us know in advance, if possible, if you plan to pay for dinner rather than bring a dish. RSVP by calling 410-252-3043, or emailing Baltimore@Earthsave.org. VOTE FOR NOAH ADAMS, ASPIRING NATUROPATHIC PHYSICIAN, AND HELP HIM BECOME THE WINNER OF AFS PROJECT CHANGE My name is Noah Adams and I am a vegan athlete who is also an Eagle Scout and wants to be a Naturopathic Physician when I grow up. I just wanted to let you know that I was recently selected as a top 20 national finalist for AFS Project Change. Project Change is a program where students from across the country submit their ideas for a global service project, and AFS narrows the field down to one project, which they then fund and implement in a foreign country. I did my submission on hosting a naturopathic medicine seminar and informing people about the benefits of natural and alternative medicine. Specifically, through using plants as a basis for good health and preventing diseases before they occur. If you would be willing to go on the following link and take a glance at all the projects and vote for your favorite (possible mine?) that would be greatly appreciated! [ http://www.afsusa.org/project-change/vote/ ] I am extremely interested in naturopathic medicine as my career, and this program would be a great way for me to take a head start on reaching my goals. Thank you for your time! ******************************************************************************** 6.
